These illustrations were created for the Augmentative Biocontrol Working Group to support presentations and websites, addressing the current lack of available vector images online. In augmentative biocontrol, a grower or pest manager applies living organisms to manage a pest (Stenberg et al.2021). Augmentative biocontrol differs from classical biocontrol and conservation biocontrol, as it typically requires the recurring application of the biocontrol species. Augmentative biocontrol can be an excellent tool in your pest management toolbox, depending on your crop and pest species.

  • Reduce pest pressure from specific pests

  • Lower reliance on pesticides, helping cut costs and minimize risks such as pesticide resistance, reduced product availability, and impacts on human and environmental health

  • Utilize the full range of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies and tools

  • Promote sustainable pest management, encouraging creativity, insight, and deeper understanding of your system

  • Showcase your commitment to sustainability, an excellent way to highlight your practices to others
